Great book! I hope there are many more in the series. Deanna has lots of things going on and there is never a dull moment, not even when she sleeps. Each of the characters are well described and the story is good. Deanna is smart, really smart and ends up with a new career path far from the one that she went to New Orleans looking for. She as well as most of the characters are very likable and described well leaving me feeling like I either could know them or wishing that I did. The mystery is good, and the murders are scary enough but still a cozy mystery. I am terrible at writing reviews but I certainly wanted to give the author credit for this book and I would recommend it to anyone. Please CC, write more!!!!

I love reading the work of CC Dragon. There's never a dull moment. A Mansion, A Drag Queen and A New Job is no different.

Deanna is a woman misunderstood. She's got psychic ability and well, it causes her some trouble. I loved watching her come into her own, while helping others. She's a different character and that's good. I could relate to her. There's a little bit of romance in this book and it's the perfect amount. I'm on the edge of my seat, waiting for more Deanna Oscar.

Deanna is a great psychic, her visions help her to find victims and stalk the killer. Thanks to her grandfather, she is prepared to take care of herself and thanks to her grandmother who left her a haunted house with a ghost maid, she is prepared to have some form of a windfall. She befriends local law enforcement and using her supernatural abilities is able to help out on a case. She also befriends "drag queen" for an introductory course in New Orleans life. She is trying to pick a career, deal with her family drama, and sort out her love life, all while helping the police track down who is murdering girls. About the only thing that is all that confusing in the story is the "drag queen" the character seems to be portrayed more as a pre-op transwoman, and the drag bar itself is an unusual scene of contradictions that doesn't seem to reflect actual drag culture, unless New Orleans drag bars are a lot different then those I am familiar with. Otherwise, I really liked this story the characters are vivid. The balance of psychiatry and psychic-ness makes for a very refreshing and original story. The story is full of humor, action, and twists and turns; I really liked it.

This was the first book I have read by this author. While in some ways a standard paranormal thriller it still manages to develop it's own identity in the genre. CC has developed an interesting setting and peopled with some unique characters. While the story is well plotted and the characters quickly become three dimensional.
That is not to say there aren't a few continuity flaws and homophones in the book but they are minor and I didn't feel they were significant enough to lower the rating of the book. If you are a fan this genre I think you will enjoy this book.
I will be looking forward to the next to see how this character continues to grow. CC Dragon is the pen name used by Cheryl Dragon (Romance and Erotic Romance author) for mysteries and paranormal mysteries. This is her first in this genre.

With that title I expected this story to be a whole lot funnier than it is. Once starting it however I found I couldn’t put this book down until it was done. It was fun watching Deanna find herself and grow as a psychic. Now I want to see where Deanna goes from here. Does she hook up with Greg? John the Judge? Someone else? This story has a world of well built characters and a good mystery, it is fast paced and well written. This book was previously published as I’m Okay, You’re Dead by Cheryl Dragon but has been updated and revised. I think the author made the correct choice in publishing this under a different pen name as this story contains very little of the heat that Cheryl Dragon is known for.

Great New Series!! I loved this book. There are lots of stories about psychics but none that have the psychic living with ghosts and a drag queen. The story is well thought out and has great characters. I would have liked a little more background info on all of them but I'm hoping that will come with future books which I will definitely buy. Deanne is a PHD Psychology Professor...slash psychic. She inherits her grandmothers mansion in New Orleans which includes the grandmother's ghost, a ghost maid and the drag queen who used to be the care giver for the grandmother. Throw in a serial killer, a couple of romantic interests and a nosy neighbor and you have the makings of a great series. I'm hoping the next book will answer some of my questions. Already downloaded it!

A Mansion, A Drag Queen, and A New Job is the first book in C.C. Dragon‘s Deanna Oscar Paranormal Mystery series. This paranormal mystery read like a cozy and was an overall fun read.

A Mansion, A Drag Queen, and A New Job started out a bit slow, but picked up into a nice and enjoyable read. Deanna Oscar was a lovable character that always seemed to remain true to herself, if a bit confused about what exactly that meant at times. With a fantastic cast of secondary characters always mixing things up it was a great introduction into the world and series. Being set in New Orleans added a special something to the story, as only NOLA can do and in A Mansion, A Drag Queen, and A New Job it was a nice fit.

The mystery was well played out and fit nicely into the story and setting. The downside to this title is that it needs a good run through with a detailed oriented editor. Several things (typos, punctuation) distracted from the flow of the story that are truly easy fixes and I am not nit-picky or sensitive about these issues.

I rate A Mansion, A Drag Queen, and A New Job 3.5 out of 5 Bullets~

A really good, fun read. A protagonist who knows her own mind & isn't afraid to tell those who disagree to shove off - successfully, with no mealy mouthed back tracking! Was thinking several times that this wagging to become a paranormal romance (which I enjoy), but it did not, keeping to its mystery theme. Very funny in sections as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good enough read

This is not one of the weirdest books I've read but it did feel a little weird.

It took me some time to get through this but that was more to do with life than this book. This was surprisingly well written and had really interesting characters. The plot was solid enough and I loved that it was set in New Orleans.

I did like how our heroine was sort of new to her psychic powers but not entirely new by virtue of having come into them early on. I liked the drag aspect of this book as it was dealt with in a great manner whilst retaining some amusement. Though their was no real humour in this book I did find some parts amusing, particularly the way the main character behaved on occasion. The only aspect I wasn't so keen on was that the author kept dragging up (pardon the pun) the Catholic upbringing of our heroine. I get that it was what gave her background some depth but I didn't feel the need to be constantly reminded of it was that good.

All in all a good enough and interesting read.

I really liked this book and am now reading the second one. The thing is that I get weirded out by ghost stories, but this book is so light hearted and has no horror factor that I am really enjoying this author! I generally like mysteries anyway, and wouldn't everyone like to be able to do the thing they love doing with worrying about money?

Really enjoyed this quirky chick lit. Like that she does not have all the answers or any super powers. Really easy to read with characters that you know have more story and depth that will be explored later in the series

Not for me. I didn't believe in any of the characters. Thought the storyline was good though.
